trackback

the Nets go into this game a loser of three straight; one to Boston, one to Philly, one to the Mavs;
The Injured List
– a possibility of getting to see Richard Jefferson in action for the first time in a long time.
– Age-less wonder Deke may not be playing
– Yao Ming’s second game after returning from some injury that kept him out for 32 games. (Houston was 20-12.)
– the Prince of Sore Backs, T-Mac is on a tear lately
– No Bonzi Wells, and No FSU love from Bob Sura

The Showdowns
VINCE CARTER vs TRACY McGRADY
the battle of the cousins! Vince would most probably be motivated enough to drop some stuff on Houston, but wait; in 16 career games against the Rocs, VC’s only averaging 23 ppg on 45% shooting, and to make things look bleaker, he shot 4-16 for 12 points in their last meeting. T-Mac has been on scoring spree lately BUT the good news is, he’s taking ALOT of shots as well, shooting a combined 112 shots in 5 games.

– JASON COLLINS vs YAO MING
tale of the tape, arghh, screw it; Jason Collins has no chance even if Yao has a bionic leg and moves like a splatter, Yao’s too strong, too tall, too skillful for good ole’ Collins; defensely Yao’s practically having a night off because he’s guarding Collins; but to the serious part, how well Jason Collins defends Yao is how good our chances of winning the game lies.

– JASON KIDD vs RAFER ALSTON
we know Rafer from his Skip to my Lou days, and we know he’s not a particularly GOOD defender, and he has trouble knocking down threes at a steady clip; well, now we know Jason Kidd is a good defender; has a streaky stroke from downtown; so it’s either Jason Kidd taking Rafer to school and getting his 11 triple dub or Rafer stucking Jason up and go for 14 and 7.

What can we EXPECT
– like usual, JVG will definitely go to Yao early in the game to get him hot or whatever, so either Jason Collins or Mikki Moore will have to do a VERY GOOD (EXCELLENT) job on covering him, or else he gets off to a hot start and we’ll be in TROUBLE.

GAME CHANGER
EDDIE HOUSE vs LUTHER HEAD
Luther Head shoots 43% from downtown and averages 2.2 3s per game in 27 minutes, Eddie House averages 42% from 3 and averages 1.3 3s per game in 17 minutes; so pick your poison; BUT WAIT, Luther Head is not a chucker, is Eddie House a chucker?

(EDIT: NO HASSAN ADAMS i HOPE)
